A frame, a set of tensioned Jakob ropes and climbers: together they make a shaded, planted canopy. Ropes can run horizontally across the top, or vertically from the ground or planters up to a steel beam, with supports every few metres. The frame can be stainless, MS or aluminium; ropes and fittings are always stainless.
For Godrej Properties, Ø10 mm Jakob ropes work as tension members, holding the pergola structure from the top and diagonally, while the climbers grow over the canopy.

With fast climbers, beds or planters at the posts and drip irrigation, most canopies fill in within 12 to 24 months.
