Stainless wire ropes
Architectural stainless ropes from Ø1 to Ø26 mm, in three constructions.
Jakob referenceOverviewWhat it is
Jakob’s architectural wire ropes are made from the AISI 316 material group. We supply them cut to length with factory-fitted terminals, or as reels for site assembly.
Choose 1×19 strand for stays, balustrade cables, pergolas and primary structures (stiff, low stretch), 6×7 + WC for lacing and nets that follow curves, and 6×19 + WC where ropes run over pulleys or through tight bends.
Options
Design it yourselfRope assembly drawing or selector
Choose the rope and a Jakob fitting at each end. The sheet draws the assembly to scale from Jakob’s catalogue dimensions, with the article numbers, breaking load and quantities. Switch to Selector to compare ropes.

QuestionsFrequently asked
What is the difference between 1×19 and 7×7?
A 1×19 strand is stiff and stretches little, which suits tensioned stays and balustrades. Multi-strand ropes such as 6×7 and 6×19 are more flexible for curves, lacing and pulleys.
Is 316 needed in Mumbai?
Near the coast, yes. AISI 316 resists chloride corrosion much better than 304, which is why Jakob’s architectural range uses it.
